Eric García has become a regular at Girona, where he is currently on loan, but recently the defender stated that the plan is to return to Barca when the loan agreement expires.
Eric García was recently interviewed by the media Jijantes, where the Catalan both lifted the veil on his future plans, while also talking about how the loan agreement and the switch to Girona were completed in the dying hours of the transfer window. In addition, García also gave an insight into how his Barca colleague Pablo Torre is doing, as he is also on loan at Girona.
‘I knew that if I was going to be loaned out to any club, it would have to be Girona. I have come to the club for a single season, but I have a contract with Barca and therefore I will return. What the future brings no one knows, and whatever happens will happen’, said García, who thus didn’t completely rule out that the future could lie elsewhere than in Barca.
‘My attitude to the transfer window was actually very straightforward, because nothing was supposed to happen. Thursday night I had no plans, but Friday morning things changed. The opportunity was there during the week and I also spoke to Xavi, after which I decided to stay. On Friday morning, my decision changed and it is not abnormal in these situations’, it came from García.
‘Cancelo has sent me a few messages and we still talk, although we haven’t met yet. We have talked about seeing each other, and we also have an agreement to go out to eat together. João is fantastically talented and as his friend I am happy to see him at Barca’.
Since Garcia’s arrival at Girona, he has already played 479 minutes in seven games, equivalent to 68 minutes per game. In comparison, García played 1,814 minutes spread across 32 games last season, which equates to an average of 56 minutes per game.
