After the match against Alavés, Robert Lewandowski has been the subject of a lot of criticism after his outburst during the match against 16-year-old Lamine Yamal. On Monday, however, the Pole downplayed the situation.
It was in the second half of Sunday’s match against Alavés that Lewandowski erupted in anger when Lamine Yamal failed to send a cross towards the Pole at the back post. Furthermore, Yamal also tried to shake Lewandowski’s hand, but he ignored the young talent.
At a press conference from the Polish national team camp on Monday, however, Lewandowski called for calm and stated that there is no bad blood between Yamal and himself, and that the situation is completely normal on a football field.
‘It’s just a coincidence. It is a normal situation on a football pitch between two players shouting at each other. There is no bad blood or bad intentions between me and Lamine. Everything is fine and there is nothing hidden in this situation. There’s really nothing to look forward to,’ said Lewandowski.
