Yesterday the annual Golden Boy gala was held, where the Italian newspaper Tuttosport handed out a number of trophies. One of them went to Lamine Yamal, who was awarded ‘The Youngest’ trophy, for being the youngest ever on the podium.
Even before the gala was held, it was decided. that Jude Bellingham would be named the Golden Boy, a trophy awarded to the world’s best player under the age of 21. The Englishman won supremely, but other trophies were also awarded.
Tuttosport also awarded the trophy ‘The Youngest’ to Lamine Yamal, since at just 16 years old he is the youngest player ever to be on the podium in the Golden Boy award.
Yamal could not attend the gala in Turin, but he had sent a video thanking him for the honor. ‘I would like to thank Tuttosport and everyone who voted for me, my family, my coaches and everyone who helped mg. I am very grateful. Thank you very much,’ he said.
