Bayern Munich have been hit hard by injuries in defence, and therefore work is being done to find a reinforcement for January. In this connection, the Germans have been reported to be interested in Clément Lenglet, who does not play much at Aston Villa.
Barca sent Clément Lenglet to Aston Villa on a loan this summer, hoping to sell the Frenchman permanently. However, it has far from gone as the management had hoped, since the defender has not yet been given playing time in this season’s Premier League.
The 28-year-old Lenglet has only played games in the Conference League, and the latest rumors have also suggested that Aston Villa do not intend to buy him this summer. Barca should therefore consider recalling the Frenchman to instead loan him elsewhere, but now another option should have appeared in the meantime.
This is written by the German newspaper Bild, who can tell that Bayern Munich is working to sign the French defender in January. This is due to the Germans’ many injuries in central defence, where Thomas Tuchel currently only has Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-Jae available.
Bayern Munich are therefore, among other things, focusing on Lenglet, whose market price of 10 million euro, is quite attractive to the Germans. At the same time, it also seems like a good change for the Frenchman, and a good solution for Barca, who for several years have tried to sell the centre-back and get rid of his large salary package.
However, Aston Villa reportedly have no intention of releasing the defender early, and everything therefore suggests that a lot will depend on Lenglet himself.
