On Thursday morning, the European Court of Justice ruled in the case of the European Super League, and here the green light was given for the creation of the league. Here it is already established how the league will be constructed.
The European Super League will consist of 64 teams for the men and 32 teams for the women. On the men’s side, the 64 teams will be divided into three divisions, with the top division consisting of 16 teams. On the women’s side, the 32 teams will be divided into two divisions.
In the 1st division, the 16 teams will be divided into two groups with 8 teams in each and here, in the end, play-off matches will be held between the best teams in each group, who will fight for the coveted title. The minimum number of matches that a team can end up playing in the European Super League in a single season is 14 matches.
Every year there will be promotions and relegations between the leagues, and there will not be some teams that are permanent participants. All teams can be promoted and relegated, and their position is determined solely by the results of their matches. Admission to the tournament is decided based on the clubs’ results in their national leagues and new teams will replace the teams in the 3rd division who are relegated.
In addition, the organization behind the European Super League also announces that the tournament will be free to watch on online streaming services such as Twitch, and that money will instead be made from advertising and from premium subscribers to these streaming services.
