Clément Lenglet has not been given much playing time at Aston Villa, where he is on loan. Barca is therefore considering terminating the agreement, and if the rumors are true, the Frenchman is approaching a loan to AC Milan instead.
It has been difficult for Clément Lenglet to get playing time under Unai Emery, who is in charge of Aston Villa. The 28-year-old Frenchman has only been used in the Englishmen’s games in the Conference League and it is not a sustainable situation for Barca, who hope to sell him permanently this summer.
The Catalans have therefore long considered terminating the defender’s rental agreement to call him home, and instead rent him out elsewhere. And everything now indicates that it will happen, since Lenglet should be approaching a new loan with AC Milan, who want to strengthen the defensive in January.
This is written by the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, which also reports that AC Milan is leading the race for the Frenchman ahead of Bayern Munich and Napoli. Lenglet is said to have already agreed to a move to the Milanese, which is also attractive to Barca, as the deal would include a mandatory purchase option, depending on his performance in Serie A.
The price will reportedly be around DKK 10 million. euros, which is a nice price for Barca, who can also look forward to a big saving on the salary budget. All eyes are therefore now on Aston Villa and whether they intend to oppose the termination of the loan agreement.
