In approximately two weeks, Barca will be in action in the Spanish Supercup and here the big question mark is whether Pedri will be ready. Now there are reports that he will miss the tournament and won’t be able to play again until a month from now.
A few weeks ago, Pedri suffered a muscle injury in training and although it is reportedly nothing serious, you will not take any chances with the fragile player by forcing a return.
There were otherwise hopes that Pedri would be ready for the semi-finals of the Spanish Supercup, where Barca will meet Osasuna on 11 January. Now, however, the newspaper Mundo Deportivo writes that the midfielder has almost been written off for the Super Cup.
The coaching staff has reportedly assessed that they would rather give Pedri plenty of time to recover, in order to reduce the risk of a new injury in the last and decisive half of the season. Therefore, the plan should be that Pedri will not play again until the end of January.
The Supercup is the first title at stake this season, but it is also the smallest trophy that is played for. Therefore, Xavi will not bet the whole store on the tournament, but will instead think further ahead.
