The loan deals with Joao Félix and Joao Cancelo have been a great success and today Joan Laporta has confirmed that the club will soon start negotiations with Atlético Madrid and Manchester City to be able to keep both players.
“We are interested in them staying at Barca. We will start these negotiations shortly, because as you know, Deco is preparing the best possible way to negotiate. We have a great friendship with Atlético Madrid and Manchester City,” says the Barca president according to the newspaper Marca.
He was then asked about the team’s chances of regaining the championship. “I’m sure we’ll achieve it because we’ve got our injured midfielders back. As you could see against Atlético Madrid, we again control the game and are in possession. When Barca have the ball, we are impossible to catch up with,” he replies.
The Champions League ambitions also received a comment. “I think everyone knows that Barca will be favorites to win the Champions League,” he continues.
Finally, there was praise for Sunday’s opponent Girona. “They are having a fantastic season. They play well and the mentality of the team is strong. I am very happy that Girona is becoming known in the world with their football team. I think they can get into next season’s Champions League” concludes Joan Laporta.
