Xavi hung his head somewhat when he met the press after the 2-4 defeat against Girona on Sunday evening. He believed that the match could have gone either way and that Girona won because they were more effective in front of goal.
“It’s a hard blow but that’s our reality. We see a Barca team under construction and then something like this happens. Sometimes you have to take a step back to take two forwards. Today it could have gone either way and we didn’t play a bad game. The same thing happened to us last March, but we won two titles,” he began.
“Today was a very even match and if Barca had won, you would also say it was deserved. I think we finished 31 times, but our mistakes in defense were costly. It’s details” he continued.
“We deserved more, but that’s how football is. When you’re not solid enough in defense, you can receive a hard blow. We didn’t play bad football, but we weren’t solid enough and it costs this big defeat, as it’s difficult to handle, but we have to move on.
