Vitor Roque arrived today in Barcelona, where he will soon join the first team. The great talent’s dream has always been to play for Barca, and he therefore did not hide his excitement when he spoke for the first time about the switch.
The management succeeded in the autumn in speeding up the arrival of Vitor Roque, who was otherwise only scheduled to change from Athletico Paranaense after this season. After Gavi’s season-ending cruciate ligament injury, however, an opportunity opened up to register the Brazilian, who will now have to fight with Robert Lewandowski for playing time up front.
The 18-year-old Roque, who also goes by the nickname Tigrinho, spoke immediately after his arrival on Barca’s social media, where he particularly emphasized his excitement over the move to the club he has always dreamed of playing for.
“I am extremely happy with everything that has happened in my life. My dream has come true. I am looking forward to getting to know the whole team, having fun with them and scoring a lot of goals. It has been my very big dream since childhood, not only for me but also for my family. I am here to fulfill my big dream, make it come true, and to work hard and win as much as possible. I will always try to help the club” Roque told Barca’s social media.
The striker is scheduled to train with the first team after the Christmas break and is expected to be available for Barca’s first game of the new year against Las Palmas. And meanwhile there is great speculation about how much playing time he will get, as Xavi wants to incorporate him slowly, but at the same time the team’s poor form means that he may soon be needed in the starting line-up.
